Some Favorite Things: Forest Green Garb

Forest green has always been at the top of my list for favorite colors.  It's almost like navy, serving as a neutral just not as versatile.  With fall technically here, although Texas weather would still dictate other wise, forest green is starting to pop up in more places.  Here are some awesome items I have found that you can use to add some forest green to your life.

Bullet Acrylic Coffee Table, Alexandra Von Furstenberg
1. I am obsessing over lucite right now.  Acrylic Coffee table look amazing in any type of setting.  Although I am thinking 17K is a bit much to spend.   CB2 is a more affordable choice.
2. Summer might be officially over, but I can not stop loving neon especially when mixed with wood.  Check out my Etsy neon love list for some of my favorites.
3. Holiday decor already?  I love the arrow ornaments but I don't know if I am ready to deck the halls.

Time Warp- It's Saturday?

Last night was all about Red Baron pizza and my Communications Theory paper.  Thursday night was the same and if I were a betting woman, which I occasionally am, the majority of today will be spent on a paper and laundry.  While I do not have many followers, for the two who actually take a moment in their week to read my blog, stick with me dudes!  It won't be like the forever.

In other news, I did not win in my category in the Apartment Therapy Room for Color contest.  First place had like 300 something votes, I made around 80ish.  The strange thing is, last year I had more votes but I believe this year my living room looks amazing. That's the important point though, that I freaking love that space.  So, maybe next year Apartment Therapy?

For the past two days I've been a little obsessed with lucite.  Just look at this vintage luctire towel bar from Eastonandbelt on Etsy.  $85

Or there is LuxHoldUps on Etsy that will custom make your lucite towel bar. And you get to decide whether you want polished brass of stainless.  They also sell curtain rods & finials.  All of it amazing and something I need to own one day.  $52 and up.

Mid Week Update

Wow, school dudes.  Papers, tests, studying, memorizing, note taking, on and on.  I am freaking tired.  Normally at this point I would be looking to the weekend for relief from the daily grind.  Nope, not this weekend.  This weekend I am finishing up a paper for my Communications Theory class.  Exciting right?  In theory.

It's important that I get this paper done before Sunday so I can start studying for a test next Saturday that I need to be prepared for on Friday because guess what folks- it's time for ROUND TOP TIME!

This year, the top of my list includes a round breakfast nook table.  My wonderful mother-in-law has decided to give me antique industrial bistro chairs that belonged to her grandma.  Uber awesome right? So I need to get rid of the pub table and find something these 5 chairs can anchor to.  Currently they are painted a blue shade from what I remember, but I am thinking multicolored is the way to go.

Room for Color Contest
1. Don't forget to vote for me in the Apartment Therapy Room for Color Contest.  I probably won't win, but I would still love your vote.
2. I love the spot light on dark rain forest greens lately.  I am thinking my little hallway nook might need to become colored so.
3. I must have been living under a rock because this faux marble contact paper is freaking awesome.  I also loving the the gold mylar.  Oh the possibilities of gold contact paper.

Time Warp- It's Saturday?

The first "cold" front of the year has blown through.  This morning we woke up to some cooler temperatures.  Granted it was still humid, it was nice to wake up and not sweat.  The rain has been great too, my grass is smiling.

Last night I decided to go in the backyard and start digging up what costs me a couple of bucks a couple of years ago to plant, the Mexican Petunia.  Cute flowers, credibly drought resistant and long blooming, the Mexican Petunia looks great on paper.  But BEWARE, this plant is incredibly freaking invasive and takes over everything.  It's a total freaking nightmare.  The roots system has grown out of control.  There are little nodes are sprouting up everywhere.  It's killing my bottle brush bushes by robbing them of nutrients.  They are so not worth the couple of bucks I spent on those little quart plants.
The Mexican Petunia is an Incredible Nuisance in Texas
www.examiner.com
It's listed as an invasive species in Florida & it should be listed as so in all states in the South I would think.  Also, in article the image links to, the author believes the pink ones are a little easier to control than the purple ones.  Not so entirely true my friend.  Both colors have grown out of control except for one I have in the front that is completely isolated and has not spread its roots at all.  So buyers beware, this plant will cost you more labor than it's worth.

Mid*Week Update

No, I'm not dead yet, just incredibly busy. Tests, papers, coworker on vacation and a lack of hours in the day.
If you have a moment vote for me in Apartment Therapy Room for Color contest. I entered roughly two weeks ago and just got selected for the contest this week so the odds are a little against me.
In other news, there is a SW sale thus weekend and a "cold" front. So do I start working in backyard or do I paint?

2. The new fall entertainment collection from Target is freaking cute and fabulous.  I love this bar-cart.  It's brass and wood and oh so affordable.
3. I am crushing hard on Sputnik Chandeliers.  They come in so many colors including brass, chrome & oil rubbed bronze. Ebay has a bazillion of these things available and I hope to make one mine someday.

I Want to Say I Do to This IKEA Docksta Table

This Docksta table is so muck more affordable than a Saarinen table. Why the hell not? So many chairs work with this table and I hope to say I do to it in the future.

Time Warp- It's Saturday?

Whew! School and work caught up to me this week.  I have been busy.  Last night I slept about 11 hours and had three vanilla vodka lemonades. So today I felt ready & revitalized and I decided to take on this little shelf Andy's parents had given me.  It started off shiny and navy.  It's very messy sanding all the paint off but it's better than using a chemical stripper. I doubt I will finish this weekend because of the heat, the tediousness and the paper I have to write.  But I figured I would go ahead and start.    Two more weekends and it should be done.

I Want To Say I Do to This IKEA Lerberg Shelf

And I did! It makes a great plant stand and it's cheap.  Kate from housemixblog.com used white ones and I kept mine the dark gray. They look great Kate!

Mid-Week Update

Okay, so this last week started school. Labor Day weekend the living room/ kitchen/ breakfast nook was painted. Labor Day I played catch-up and yesterday was lawn work. Needless to say, I've been a little busy. I am hoping this weekend I will be able to throw up a photo or two of the new living room. I want it all pretty so I can enter the Apartment Therapy Room For Color Contest like last year. I am still up in the air about a couple of things and missing some pieces here and there, but for the most part it's done and I love it. Hopefully this weekend I can get the results out there.
