<span style="font-family: "arial";">For the study, kitchen, hallways, guest bathroom, dining room and living room, we chose a woodgrain floor tile by <a href="http://www.marazziusa.com/products/porcelain-stoneware/glazed-porcelain/knoxwood">Marazzi</a>. As much as we love the look and feel of hardwood, it is not practical for dog owners who work all day. The color we choose is Nutmeg and it is a show stopper. I can not wait to see it grouted.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial";">The guest bathroom also received it's tile shower surround. We choose a dark grout for the tile, I can't wait to see what that looks like next weekend.</span><br />

<div style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Shaker cabinets have been the “it” cabinets of Pinterest,
Houzz and every show on TV that involves a modern kitchen remodel. They are
clean, contemporary, and look good in many different kitchen styles.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
</span><br />
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The problem with shaker cabinets? Opening them without
hardware can be a little bit if a pain. And, if cabinets are white or a pale
color, grubby finger prints are going to be all over those cabinets all the
time unless you have something to pull when opening them.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
</span><br />
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">After viewing our almost completed kitchen cabinets, Andy
immediately said, we have to get handles for these quick. Alright, done.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
</span><br />
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">There are billions of knobs and pulls on the market. <a href="http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/3892556/list/8-top-hardware-styles-for-shaker-kitchen-cabinets" target="_blank">This article</a> on Houzz walks you through some of the more popular styles of hardware
for shaker cabinets. You can mix a combination of knobs and pulls or just
choose one or the other, which is what we are planning to do since our cabinets
are white and grey. This way, there is some cohesiveness between the island and
wall cabinets.</span></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
</span><br />
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The Delta Trinsic Faucet we purchased for the kitchen is the
champagne bronze color and I want the pulls to match to tie it all together.
After shopping online, I narrowed it down to three pulls, priced low to high.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyP-IzxJ2drtuEDmCcjs0Tn4h2iVUgHLZ8KXhWsXR0ff-7EiBktZeixcIuwngoncXTBoFo3a9tX9rNRL_z6cpCbrCjMQcQCMXGes_cnbPlSF62Ysp4xN_tFPT9-QOiYvy2-NlvVA9RWZ-d/s1600/Pulls+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="204" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyP-IzxJ2drtuEDmCcjs0Tn4h2iVUgHLZ8KXhWsXR0ff-7EiBktZeixcIuwngoncXTBoFo3a9tX9rNRL_z6cpCbrCjMQcQCMXGes_cnbPlSF62Ysp4xN_tFPT9-QOiYvy2-NlvVA9RWZ-d/s640/Pulls+2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "arial";"><em>Option A</em> is the most affordable and the most modern. It is the Liberty 3 in. Champagne Bronze Bar Pull. Find them at <a href="http://www.homedepot.com/p/Liberty-3-in-76mm-Champagne-Bronze-Bar-Pull-P30781C-CZ-CP/205187304?MERCH=REC-_-NavPLPHorizontal1_rr-_-NA-_-205187304-_-N" target="_blank">Home Depot.</a></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial";"></span><br /></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "arial";"><em>Option B</em> is a wee bit more burnished in my opinion. It is the Atlas Hardware Successi 3 7/9" Center Bar Pull in Vintage Brass. You can find them from a couple of sites including <a href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RF2G8IY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1" target="_blank">Amazon</a> and <a href="http://www.build.com/atlas-homewares-a873/s1063417?uid=2901276&gclid=CjwKEAjwiMe8BRD0ts3Vtv-ohWgSJAAZurk1m_oRl9j_Ln-ytFqq6TsnD_SXrXC15qjbo3EBxdde8RoC1xrw_wcB&source=gg-gba-pla_with_promotion_2901276____78027638359&s_kwcid=AL!4215!3!78027638359!!!g!143650569679!">Build.com.</a><br />

<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial";">
</span><div style="margin: 0in 0in 10pt;">
<span style="font-family: "arial";"><em>Option C</em> is also modern and is the most expensive out of the three, but still under 10 bucks, making it a steal. It is the Atlas Homewares Successi Collection Champagne 4.68 inch Square Pull. I found them at <a href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CY2K68I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1">Amazon</a> for under $10, other places <a href="https://www.thehardwarehut.com/catalog-product.php?p_ref=302809&gshop&gclid=CjwKEAjwiMe8BRD0ts3Vtv-ohWgSJAAZurk13h_dcGm_tFV6BtfdB89ubzJysoQ9Y0-Cgp1TTucY7xoCwtzw_wcB">The Hardware Hut</a> for $10 and more.</span></div>

This weekend when we visit the house, I plan to make my final decision. Stay tuned!</div>

There you willl be bombarded with upgraded features for every square foot of your new property. It is easy to spend a fortune on upgrades. Knowing where to upgrade with the builder and where not to usually requires serious research and evaluation of the products available at the builder. For these reasons, here are three quick tips hit the builder selection center.<div><br></div><div>1. Opt for two appointments if possible,</div><div>2. Set the appointments at least a week apart so you can digest your selections,</div><div>3. Don't be afraid to visit the center again between appointments if you need to revisit selections.</div><div><br></div><div>We <span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">selected a ton of upgrades and then spent a week and a half mulling over the selections, checking prices, and even visiting the builder selection center on an off-day before returning to make our final selections.</span></div><div><br></div><div><font face="Helvetica Neue Light, HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif">In the end, we selected many upgrades. Three of the larger ones included upgrading the cabinets to shaker cabinets, upgrading the appliance suite, and countertops throughout the house. The cost of the cabinets were justified after we calculated the costs of upgrading cabinets. In addition, the cabinets are from a solid company. We upgraded the appliance suit since the upgrade price was significantly less the the same suite at Lowes. Lastly, It was a pain to upgrade the countertops </font><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">in the last house, the cost to update the granite was minimal, but the cost of the Quartz was over the top. So, we updated the countertops to a granite color that would match cabinets.</span></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Now where to save.</span></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Lighting- just save your money and shop online.</span></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Plumbing fixtures- see above.</span></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Cabinet hardware- Also see above or visit a home improvement store.</span></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">One of the first upgrades we purchased was a Delta Trinsic Kitchen faucet. I wanted a satin brass color and I had a coupon. Actually, we visited a Ferguson showroom pricing items and fell in love the the champagne bronze color and faucet style. I've also ordered a few different cabinet pulls to compare their color and style to the cabinets and faucet. Overall. I am pretty excited about the choices we've made and it all coming together.</span></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg0nE5xTGUnyaGoRjvNTCP1dYol7NmeoCj2mOAQjGS727NthMSbmdAjAw6H6rJ_watvAwAP-V5WzSIWtWzauW2_Deo6dYpIXbDLuX5uGvIOvnLQkWwm1O37Z1NpRL0COHF4Rv7doZBPVO4/s640/blogger-image--2122868452.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgg0nE5xTGUnyaGoRjvNTCP1dYol7NmeoCj2mOAQjGS727NthMSbmdAjAw6H6rJ_watvAwAP-V5WzSIWtWzauW2_Deo6dYpIXbDLuX5uGvIOvnLQkWwm1O37Z1NpRL0COHF4Rv7doZBPVO4/s640/blogger-image--2122868452.jpg"></a></div><br></span></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14854636434448617350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-668368039492938770.post-19714504415443453882016-07-17T20:52:00.001-05:002016-07-17T20:58:01.542-05:00Trim, Interior Doors and CabinetsAfter a relaxing weekend at my parent's house, we came back to Cypress and checked on the progress of the new home. For weeks we would just drive past an empty lot- waiting for the next thing to happen.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Then one day, it did. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Before we knew it the slab was dried, the frame was up, there was a roof, and hardy plank. Last weekend, the drywall was installed.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This week we discovered we had kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets, wall and ceiling texture. The trim and interior doors were in the garage awaiting installation.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Also we noticed the makeshift sidewalk leading to the front porch was gone- I hope to see concrete and brick next weekend.</div>
<div>

August can not get here fast enough.</div>

I've purchased new furniture and for the last month or so, I have been pouring over wallpaper samples; a task that I still haven't finished.<br />
<br />
Here are the three issues associated with my wallpaper conundrum. 1. There are just too many wallpapers out there available for purchase. 2. I am not going to pay premium for something that I will only enjoy for 2-3 more years. 3. I wanted blue, then I thought about grey, now I am back to blue.<br />
<br />
It's difficult. But knowing what I want my dining room to look like is not. I am settled on that.<br />

Before you prep a wall or hang that first piece, you must first decide on the wallpaper- a task that can be costly depending on sample prices and the number of samples you order a well as frustrating because of selection of wallpaper available for purchase.<br />

Of course, there is the budget too.</div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxO0MjXtv9RaIYuxL3KcCVDRKpFDf-nAckXJRE7zgoYrCal5pSqQR9bYS9-eGQco0D_pGhmCQxkJ7Y_i4OQxuFXlxQRpjuTy74FeXNqHc6ALKjrmhx1v-ZtLnkSY8-XpZscc8xrLg71_KC/s1600/Birdie+Chair.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="364" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxO0MjXtv9RaIYuxL3KcCVDRKpFDf-nAckXJRE7zgoYrCal5pSqQR9bYS9-eGQco0D_pGhmCQxkJ7Y_i4OQxuFXlxQRpjuTy74FeXNqHc6ALKjrmhx1v-ZtLnkSY8-XpZscc8xrLg71_KC/s640/Birdie+Chair.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">One day, while researching blue mid century dining chairs, I came across the Birdie Dining Chair offered by Pier1. I was instantly hooked on the color, the simple design and the way affordable clearance price. I slept on the purchase for a month before pulling the trigger.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">I ordered two chairs online and had them shipped to store which is free and relatively quick. The chairs shipped from Fort Worth, home to Pier1's warehouse.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">Here are my thoughts on the chairs after I got them home.</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">First and foremost, the chair fabric is
not the bright Carolina blue pictured online. The shade is more muted version
of the color. Almost grey. If this is an issue for you, I suggest you order a
fabric swatch, they are available. I like the color, however, if you are going for something specific, a swatch is always recommended.</span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">The seams of the chairs are not as
clean as tidy as pictured either. They are not bad, but they are not as flawless as portrayed in online. Additionally, these chairs are incredibly light weight. Two chairs came in one box and I was able to move the box around with ease. Comfort wise, they are not bad. The chairs are firm and the back is straight- which makes for a nice dining chair in my opinion.</span><span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">The wood stain is not perfect but it's not bad either. It looks very similar to what is pictured.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, sans-serif;">In my opinion, $150 for a dining room chair that is as stylish as this one is a good deal. After applying an online coupon code, and shipping to store, the entire purchase, for me, was less than $300. For something that could be replaced if my style or home changes, I think the price is justified. For me, the chairs are serving as two end chairs (photos of the new dining room design are forthcoming). The quality of the chair certainly exceeds the price point of $150 but in no way were they worth the original $249.</span></div>

<br />
Without getting into too much detail, I sold the old dining room set and purchased a new one from West Elm.<br />
<br />
The <a href="http://www.westelm.com/products/jensen-dining-table-h1039/?pkey=e%7Cjenson%7C2%7Cbest%7C0%7C1%7C24%7C%7C1&cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH" target="_blank">West Elm Jenson dining table</a> offers mid century flair without too much faux wood for an affordable price. Surprisingly, it is an incredibly study table once put together. The bottom portion of the table comes disassemble in one box while the glass is separate. The bottom pieces are very well wrapped and insulated in the box they come in. No scratches or dig. This is in part due to the huge quantity of foam blocks that come with the table base. Once I had it unpacked, and the foam blocks stacked up nicely in a corner of my empty dining room, I began to assemble the table.<br />
<br />
Andy and I have assembled our fair share of pieces from IKEA. In fact, we could be considered furniture assembly pro. However, this particular table came with some of the WORSE assembly instructions I have ever seen. The pictures on the instructions are small and made little sense. The directions are also difficult to comprehend and left me wondering what I had gotten myself into.<br />
<br />
Also, maybe I missed it, but it took the two of us to put this thing together. Once you get to the portion where you assemble the "legs" to the center beam, you'll see what I am talking about. I found it almost impossible to do like the picture was showing. Nonetheless, we were able to get everything together and, like I said, after tightening every bolt, it is a very stable table.<br />
<br />
Added bonus, it's also sourced from environmentally sustainable farming.<br />
<br />
The table comfortably sits people side by side. My husband is 6'1 and finds it to be a good height and have enough spacing when sitting right next to me. Plus, he really likes how it is a mid-century inspired table that has a glass top. It really makes the room feel more spacious which this table would be awesome in an apartment.<br />
<br />
The bottom line, I recommend this table. It's very nice, sturdy and affordable, just make sure you have room to assemble it and a friend to help if possible.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14854636434448617350noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-668368039492938770.post-69998290262536259402015-12-14T16:26:00.000-06:002015-12-14T16:26:29.274-06:00Goodbye School, Hello BlogAfter five long years of being a students and full time employee, it pleases me to say I just submitted my last school assignment ever. That's right folks, I am a college graduate. Saturday, December 19th, I am going to walk across that stage, grab my scroll, and eat a long awaited celebration charcuterie.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14854636434448617350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-668368039492938770.post-69375823099699043512015-08-20T09:55:00.001-05:002015-08-24T08:55:04.394-05:00Roomba versus Dyson- A Dog Owner's ReviewAfter my husband and I installed laminate flooring throughout the main part of the house, we decided me needed a special vacuum. One for laminate of course. Something we could just whip out and go to town with. The first stick vac we purchased was the <a href="http://www.homedepot.com/p/Electrolux-Ergorapido-2-in-1-Cordless-Stick-and-Handheld-Vacuum-EL1014A/203703917?cm_mmc=Shopping%7cBase&gclid=CjwKEAjw9dWuBRDFs9mHv-C9_FkSJADo58iMjJyz5-tLz_B0Okd0iE604O167Qy_OEpBuMj8fUryWBoCmzbw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds" target="_blank">Electrolux Ergorapdio </a> it lasted less than one year before the battery would not hold a charge and it started not sucking.It was a total pain to clean out and the removal hand vac was stupid, it really did not suck up fine particles just larger one like a dog hair tumble weed. So, off it went to the Best Buy Electronics Recycling. Which if you have never used this service, it's free and you need to get on the ball!<br />
<br />
Our next purchase was a Roomba 650. The pros included that fact that it was incredibly easy to clean out, the parts are replaceable, that it obviously did the work for me and did a fairly reasonable job of picking up small particles. In addition, it goes right back to it's little home and even has a timer of when it should go off which is actually bad (I'll explain later.) Also, it runs for while (1-2 hours at my house) and goes from tile, to laminate to carpet with ease.<br />
<br />
Now the cons, first and foremost, it is a robot, it does not care about your furniture. Roomba relies on contact which is bad for goods. All my furniture legs are now chipped and missing paint. It sucks. Also, this Roomba is loud. You can not run Roomba and watch TV just like you would not run a vacuum and watch TV. It also gets stuck on stuff and does not fair well over looped rugs. I rescued Roomba several times when it was stuck in my AV cables beneath the entertainment center. And Roomba almost completely destroyed my <a href="http://www.westelm.com/products/mini-pebble-wool-jute-rug-b859/?pkey=e%7Cwool%2Band%2Bjute%2Brug%7C2%7Cbest%7C0%7C1%7C24%7C%7C1&cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH" target="_blank">Mini Pebble Wool Jute Rug from West Elm</a>. I actually ended up having to pick it up and get a flatweave. Lastly, the biggest con for Roomba, it does not know when it should NOT vacuum something.<br />
<br />
Remember that timer I mentioned? We set our Roomba to go off on a timer at 2 pm daily. We are not at home and this way Roomba finishes up the work right before we walk in the door. One day, Roomba vacuumed over something it was not suppose to. My senior dog had a very bad accident in the kitchen. You can image what happened next. From the back door to the front door, over the new flatweave rug and elsewhere, Roomba made a massive mess before it finally died. That's right folks, my Roomba died of poop ingestion. Not something you think will ever happen, but Roomba is just a robot, it does not know when to not go over something or run into it.<br />
<br />
After a massive clean up and proper disposal of Roomba, we now found ourselves in need of a new vacuum. This time we sprang for the <a href="http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dyson-v6-motorhead-bagless-cordless-vacuum-fuchsia-iron/2503887.p?id=1219550849050&skuId=2503887" target="_blank">Dyson V6 Motorhead. </a>I did not buy this vacuum because it is pink. Although when I first saw it at Target one day I sent a photo to Andy to show. Fate brought me to this vacuum. Fate and dog poop. Installation was a breeze. The adaptability and use of the trigger switch making operating the Dyson V6 simple and sort of fun. It's not heavy. On the lowest suction setting it picks up the smallest particles. I can actually tell you in full faith that the Dyson V6 picks up particles better than my Roomba or Electrolux ever did. The battery does not last as long as the Roomba, but it does last longer than I need in order to clean up 700 sq.ft. or so. It is marvelous at picking up pet hair and best of all, will not try to pick up pet poop on its own.<br />
<br />
As much as I loved my Roomba, I do not recommend for pet owners, lovers of vintage furniture, rugs or anything that the little robot will come into contact with. Go with the Dyson, you will not regret it.<br />
<br />
**Update** After using my Dyson V6 Motohead to clean up fine FINE particles from my new kitchen quartz installation I have come to the conclusion that it is superior to the Roomba. The newest con is I have discovered when using the "max" setting for an extended period of time, the motor gets pretty warm.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14854636434448617350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-668368039492938770.post-9633981860017774372015-08-19T08:45:00.000-05:002015-08-20T09:21:24.985-05:00Kitchen Reno Sneak Peek & TwitterYes, I know I said two months ago to look for me to return in December. However, I have two things I am dying to share. One, my mini kitchen reno that is going to rock and two, you should be following me on Twitter.<br />
<br />
First the mini kitchen reno. Here is a small snap shot of my current kitchen situation.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7-clMuFcH-LUqL5ZGga6gYyHdVWViyDfrjnJNq0UT9naiKPMvuR-gxVqKYY5U4fP1RCebZEgQbmpd_MJUellq271UdNrML5Y4vWqf30z0eYwOqq32YeokILinfMmwVIBNw2BNTqCsa6ix/s1600/FullSizeRender.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7-clMuFcH-LUqL5ZGga6gYyHdVWViyDfrjnJNq0UT9naiKPMvuR-gxVqKYY5U4fP1RCebZEgQbmpd_MJUellq271UdNrML5Y4vWqf30z0eYwOqq32YeokILinfMmwVIBNw2BNTqCsa6ix/s640/FullSizeRender.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
It's a dark situation. When we were building the home, we actually chose the best of all the available materials that would be "free" since we were updating the cabinets. Now here is where we are going.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbZXV_aWODm9Yv3BBSPcXJ2enFelxXSMP-f_rJhdYbqVsLrhB4aOPIycjTBtYKJjtfoITfC7ZJh9RHoHVevuGFCyjP-Bdlj0cjouwaNeA2Qh0poaG5DTv1iATjJESabNQUy9eeDJWtf1Bw/s1600/image1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbZXV_aWODm9Yv3BBSPcXJ2enFelxXSMP-f_rJhdYbqVsLrhB4aOPIycjTBtYKJjtfoITfC7ZJh9RHoHVevuGFCyjP-Bdlj0cjouwaNeA2Qh0poaG5DTv1iATjJESabNQUy9eeDJWtf1Bw/s640/image1.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
The tile is from Lowe's, <a href="http://www.lowes.com/pd_291236-93840-20-596___?productId=3378636&pl=1&Ntt=mosaic+tile" target="_blank">Allen + Roth Venatino</a> . We chose it because it works well with the existing floor tile in the kitchen and the new countertops we ordered which in the one on the right, Daltile Chipped Ice Quartz. Installation is supposed to start this weekend, which is exciting!! We also will get a new sink and we have hung a new light fixture in the breakfast nook.<br />
<br />
Also, seriously, follow me on Twitter. My twitter feed is mainly work focused but that does not mean it's boring. It actually means it's informative because it's all about recycling and living a green lifestyle. @sherrellcordas is where it's at if you want to scoop out green lifestyle tips and info.<br />

It is now June 2015. I'm no math whiz, but wow. Talk about a hiatus.<br />
<br />
A lot has happened since October....<br />
<br />
I am not going to dwell on the past, instead I am going to focus on the future. My last day of school is December 5. I shall return then. Until then, follow me on Pinterest. I'm still addicted to that.<br />
<br />
-SCAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14854636434448617350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-668368039492938770.post-59411618474187761072014-10-19T13:37:00.002-05:002014-10-19T13:37:40.951-05:003 Months and 12 Days AgoIt was the last time I wrote a blog post. Have I abandoned by blog? My house? My life? Just about. In January I took over a new position at work, it keeps me very busy. Then Summer school came followed by my first semester of three classes in August. I have less than two months until the semester ends and then it is the holidays and then rodeo season starts.<br />
<br />
So the blog is on the back burner. And my house? Well I hung my french doors, I painted them black, I've made a table, reupholstered a sofa, and done some many other things in between Summer school and the Fall semester but I haven't photographed anything. I am just sort-of living life as it comes to me.<br />
<br />
So I have not given up on life, it just passes by me so quickly that I don't even realize it is happening most the time. I am thinking this December it will slow down some and I will be able to share what has been going around here. At least I hope to because there are so many things I wanted to accomplish in 2014- and I almost knocked them all out. <br />
<br />
Bare with me blog world.<br />
<br />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14854636434448617350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-668368039492938770.post-69848168121585571132014-07-07T17:38:00.000-05:002014-07-07T17:38:42.064-05:00More Pottery Barn Outlet Goodies!<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://ab.weimgs.com/weimgs/ab/images/wcm/products/201405/0052/img57o.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://ab.weimgs.com/weimgs/ab/images/wcm/products/201405/0052/img57o.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"> Copper Cord Set, Retail $49, Outlet $19.99</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
This time I did not pass up the lovely copper cord set. It will find it's way into the computer room in the near future. In addition I also purchased <a href="http://www.potterybarn.com/products/cameron-cotton-tab-top-drape/?pkey=call-windows&cm_src=all-windows||NoFacet-_-NoFacet-_--_-" target="_blank">Pottery Barn Tab Top curtains</a> for my master bedroom. I was sick of the ultra sheer ones I had purchased from Target. Although they are not black-out curtains, they do a pretty reasonable job with the blinds. The neighbor's porch light did not keep me awake. Plus at $35 each, I feel as if I am getting my money's worth.<br />
<br />
What did I have to pass up this time around? Well for starters they had three West Elm Elton Setees in the color Pine Needle. They were less than $400 each and I have no room in my dining room.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://rk.weimgs.com/weimgs/rk/images/wcm/products/201405/0114/img26b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://rk.weimgs.com/weimgs/rk/images/wcm/products/201405/0114/img26b.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">West Elm Elton Setee</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
There were also plenty of the industrial white glass pendants from West Elm. I didn't check prices because I am out of lighting space in my house but I can promise you they were cheaper than original price and they had a TON of them.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://rk.weimgs.com/weimgs/rk/images/wcm/products/201405/0261/img21o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://rk.weimgs.com/weimgs/rk/images/wcm/products/201405/0261/img21o.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">West Elm Mini Industrial Glass Pendant Bowl</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
And last but not least, there were also three of these little yellow chairs from West Elm. They were marked at $289 each and I hope someone took them home. If I had true white walls in my house, I know I sure as heck would have.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://rk.weimgs.com/weimgs/rk/images/wcm/products/201405/0298/img36c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://rk.weimgs.com/weimgs/rk/images/wcm/products/201405/0298/img36c.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">West Elm Oliver Chair</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
So that is that for my great finds at the Pottery Barn/ West Elm Outlet store. Of course there is more, so much more. The store is located in San Marcos, TX. I recommend you always get there right as the store opens to score a shopping cart and a good place in lie because it gets packed. As for me, I am done with the outlet mall for a while, I can not keep shoveling crap into my house.<br />
<br />
Found something good at an outlet mall? Share it please- I love a good deal! The first semester ends next week. We're going hiking at my parents which means I'll be making a stop at the PotteryBarn Outlet store. Speaking of the Williams Sonoma family, Andy and I purchased a Sedgwick recliner from West Elm. We are waiting for it to be delivered at our local West Elm because I was not paying delivery charges. Hopefully we can pick it up in the next week<div><br></div><div>Next semester starts July 7 and I will be busy until August. I have got two new faucets to install and and kitchen nook table in the works. We will see what happens.</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14854636434448617350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-668368039492938770.post-91675958148048258112014-05-27T07:49:00.003-05:002014-05-27T07:50:55.769-05:00Pottery Barn Outlet Store Finds<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<a href="http://ab.weimgs.com/weimgs/ab/images/wcm/products/201405/0052/img57o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a>This past weekend was great. Did everything I wanted and more. This includes going to one of my most favorite of all places, the Pottery Barn factory store which includes PB Teen, PB Kids, Williams Sonoma, Williams Sonoma Home and West Elm. It's a very happy places with deals and not so great deals. The big find of the day was my new rug. Wanted an 8 x 10 in a natural color, brought one home.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://ab.weimgs.com/weimgs/ab/images/wcm/products/201405/0333/img73o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://ab.weimgs.com/weimgs/ab/images/wcm/products/201405/0333/img73o.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Mini Pebble Wool/ Jute Rug</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
This handsome devil of a rug costs $599 new at West Elm. I took it home this weekend for roughly 46% off. It now lives happily in my living room for less than $300. <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://ab.weimgs.com/weimgs/ab/images/wcm/products/201405/0142/img68o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://ab.weimgs.com/weimgs/ab/images/wcm/products/201405/0142/img68o.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Square Lacquered Tray</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I did not get to bring home the gold version of this one. Yes, they had one but it was also dinged up pretty good. Instead I brought home the navy blue version. Retailed for $29, I paid $17. There we other items I found in the store but did not bring home due to the fact that I own too much crap.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Mid-Century Nightstand, Retail $299, Outlet $199</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://ab.weimgs.com/weimgs/ab/images/wcm/products/201406/0002/img25o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://ab.weimgs.com/weimgs/ab/images/wcm/products/201406/0002/img25o.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Angled-Base Coffee Table, Retail $499, Outlet $299</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
The above I would consider to be details. Substantial savings, enough to make you wait in line. The following item, not so much a deal. Saving $7 and waiting in line for 30 minutes does not make sense.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://ab.weimgs.com/weimgs/ab/images/wcm/products/201405/0097/img21o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://ab.weimgs.com/weimgs/ab/images/wcm/products/201405/0097/img21o.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">84" White Cotton Canvas Panels, Retail $29, Outlet $22.99</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Last but not least there were four of these babies. Andy did not think they were comfortable and I thought the same but more or less had a hard time passing up some eye-candy. They all stayed there at the store for someone else to love one day. If you live near San Marcos Outlet, please go rescue one.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">West Elm Leather Sling Chair, Retail ??, Outlet $449</td></tr>
</tbody></table>

School ended in early May and work continued on the same path. So here we are, Memorial Day weekend. The summer semester begins the first Monday of June. I have this weekend and next before my freedom to loiter around the house becomes something of the past. In order to get to graduation faster, I have decided to take 3 classes this fall. I've never done it before but I figured with as much time I have on my hands to stare mindlessly at an episode of Fraiser, I have time to take another class because I'll be honest, I am so done with going to school, but I am so close. December 2015, it'll be done. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So this weekend I am going to see my folks which means I will be hitting up the Pottery Barn outlet store. Yes, I will post all the wonderful finds I see. I am actually looking for a rug. In the next month the sofa will be re-upholstered in a navy blue, I will share photos once it's done. Bought bathroom faucets for my master bath, I plan to take care of those in August during my small break. Have a gallon of paint for the rock out room, I am hoping to do that next weekend.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So that is my life, or lack there of. I will try not to make it two months next time. </div>
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14854636434448617350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-668368039492938770.post-49505838530468806572014-03-18T19:35:00.001-05:002014-03-18T19:49:31.643-05:00Time Flies with Colorful Barstools<div style="text-align: justify;">
Am I having fun? You bet your bottoms. I can not believe it has been over a month since my last post. Needless to say I have been busy. BBQ Cook-Off, school, work, school, work, bought a dishwasher, work, more work and cleaning house. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So have I done anything around the house? My answer is the same as it was a month ago. No. Although I need to do stuff around the house. For starters, we discovered our master shower has leaked a little into our closet. So I have to fix that. The backyard? It looks like freaking Jurassic Park back there. We lost a weekend to being lazy after a hockey game, another Saturday was lost to errand and dish washer shopping and then the majority of my evenings have been spent watching Fraiser on Netflix and browsing Pinterest. So NOTHING has been done. I have missed to Sherwin Williams sales and I have rooms to paint. I have just about give up on searching for a breakfast nook table. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Do you hear the violins in the background? Right now I don't even want to think about what my Feedly looks like. Gracious it has got to be bad. To make up for it, here are some colorful barstools.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
They are happy, fun, and look great with natural wood or white or both. </div>

Last month I think. While I have a moment I thought to myself, "Hey, why not drop in on your dear 'ole blog and write something to let the two people who read the damn thing know you're alive." Well, rest assured I am alive, just very, VERY busy. My new gig has kept me our of town for two weekends and busy during the week. What free time I have had has been devoted to homework and next week I will be at a conference for 3 nights. To top all of that off, the rodeo and Earth Day events are just around the corner. Just considered this post to be the luckiest thing to happen to you.<br />
<br />
Nothing has happened in the house besides Andy doing the laundry the last two weekends and me trying to clean a little here and there. I have a gala this Saturday, we have a hockey game coming up soon and then as usual, there is school. I am starting to think that perhaps this May I will take off a Friday and attempt to cross one thing off my list for this year. Then again, I might just want to take the day off to take a day off and do nothing besides CLEAN this house really well and hang out with the dogs. <br />
<br />
So I am alive. Busy and alive. Friendless and sleepless but alive. So with that I leave you with hopes and promises that I will return but at the same time, don't get your hopes up it will be any time this month.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14854636434448617350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-668368039492938770.post-342561018254360822014-01-25T08:35:00.000-06:002014-01-25T08:35:53.906-06:00Time Warp, It's Saturday?Wow this morning is getting under my skin. Blogger is being buggy and I just deleted yesterday's post on accident. Not that it was important, it just peeves me off when a program goes all crazy. So now that's out of the way I can get back to what I was attempting to share with everyone. Mint shoes. I know, it's not related to decor and I probably need mint shoes like I need a hole in the head. But darn it, they are so freaking cute. So here are my findings this morning while I am enjoying my cup of coffee. Enjoy!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
First on the list, Scalloped Mint Flat.<br />

This morning I woke up realizing that I start a new semester of school this month and that I have no clue which day that is nor have I rented my text books. So first thing this morning was to take care of that and I am glad I did. School starts in little over a week. For some reason I thought it would be later than that. Oh well, crisis averted. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Today Andy and I are going into town for a trip to West Elm. I am excited to check out the new collection. They new blues in upholstery are very pretty and I am totally grabbing swatches of them. Also, I will bring back reviews of some of the new items I see on the floor. In addition to that? Who knows, maybe some Vietnamese food. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I purchased a Rast from IKEA in order to give it a tiny makeover for Andy's bed side. I do not think I will be getting to it this weekend. Maybe assembled but that's about it. I need to get caught up with some laundry and some light cleaning plus there is today's trip into town and Prince is getting a hair cut. In lue of show casing my Rast project, here are some great bedside table ideas to inspire you.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
